There’s no doubt that the news of Wilson’s closing brought a skip to the heart of many across Franklin County and beyond. But how about creating a long-awaited solution out of an impending crisis? Could the Wilson’s building be the foundation of a large new handicapped-accessible library in the heart of town?
Three floors with elevators already installed, and a new HVAC system? A huge street-level room at the very center of everything? Very little would have to be changed, but maybe some wonderful large new windows on the second and third floors overlooking a bustling downtown could make an elegant but cozy place to read or meet. Could that possibly allow plenty of room to create a new fire station as an addition to the current station? Is this the goose that laid a golden egg?
