The first snowstorm of the year has given Franklin County students an extra day off after the Thanksgiving weekend.
Area schools are closed due to hazardous road conditions created by a storm that began around 3 p.m. Sunday. The storm is expected to continue until early Tuesday morning.
Franklin County courts are also closed.
Weather spotters for the National Weather Service reported 13 inches had fallen in Hawley and 11 inches in Heath by midnight.
The National Weather Service forecasts additional snow accumulations from 3 to 10 inches today.
