The Community Clothes Closet at 83 Foundry Village Road will be open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be open through Dec. 14, and resume in early April. Residents of all towns are welcome. Clothes are free and suit all ages. The closet accepts donations of clean clothing, which can be delivered anytime at the building’s rear. A Holiday Raffle to benefit the Friends of the Erving Library at Erving Public Library during open library hours: Sunday through Thursday 1 to 7 p.m. Many gifts including wooden bowl from Peterman’s Boards and Bowls, basket of kitchen items, holiday dinnerware, house plants, ceramic Santa, and gift certificates.
Holly Fair: The Community Church of North Orange & Tully, 48 Main St., will present its annual Holly Fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The main floor of the church is accessible and will feature a cookie walk, homemade candy and baked goods, and a gift card raffle. Lunch and beverages will be available. Upstairs, Santa will arrive at 11 a.m. and stay until 12:30 p.m. Bring your own camera to take a picture of your child with Santa. There will also be a coffee can raffle, a Pop-A-Win game for children, and items available including Christmas decorations, gifts and partridge berry bowls.
The Cellar Closet at Central Congregational Church of Orange, 95 South Main St., will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers have been accepting and arranging clothing for women, men and children, along with jewelry and accessories, shoes and household items. The thrift store, which is open to the public and helps finance the food pantry, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The food pantry is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In an emergency, such as a fire or flood, the center will supply needed clothing, linens and food to help the disaster victims.
“The Thing” will be shown Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Wendell Free Library. A U.S. research station in Antarctica is suddenly buzzed by a helicopter from the nearby Norwegian research station.
