Report: RFK granddaughter died of overdose

BARNSTABLE — Authorities have determined that Saoirse Kennedy Hill, the 22-year-old granddaughter of assassinated presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, died of a drug overdose.

WCVB-TV reported on Friday that a toxicology test found methadone, fluoxetine, norfluoxetine, diazepam, nordiazepam and alcohol in her system.

Fluoxetine is an antidepressant, and diazepam is used to treat anxiety and alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Hill was found unresponsive at a home at the Kennedy compound on Cape Cod on Aug. 1. She was pronounced dead at Cape Cod Hospital.

Hill was scheduled to start her senior year at Boston College this fall.

She was the daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy’s fifth child, Courtney, and Paul Michael Hill.

Hill had written frankly and publicly about her struggles with mental health and a suicide attempt while in high school.

Man gets up to 10 years in prison for molesting girl

ATTLEBORO — A man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for molesting a 5-year-old girl he knew.

The Sun Chronicle reports that 55-year-old James Hickman was sentenced Thursday in Fall River Superior Court following his conviction earlier this week on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14 and committing unnatural acts on a child under 16.

Prosecutors say he molested the girl in her Attleboro home in June 2016. He was arrested in Georgia in 2017 based on DNA evidence.

Hickman’s lawyer, Ted Koban, argued for a two-year prison term. His client had denied any wrongdoing.

Authorities say Hickman faced similar charges in 2003 involving a 9-year-old girl, but the case was eventually dropped by prosecutors because she was not able to testify.

Leader of motorcycle gang faces federal firearms charge

BOSTON — A high-ranking member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club has been charged with illegal possession of a gun.

Federal prosecutors say 48-year-old Bruce Sartwell was held after his initial court appearance Wednesday pending a detention hearing set for Friday.

Sartwell, who according to authorities is the regional president of the Brockton/East Bridgewater Chapter of the Outlaws, was arrested after authorities say they found an AR-15 style “ghost gun” at his East Bridgewater home. A “ghost gun” is a firearm without any manufacturing or serial numbers.

As a previously convicted felon, he is not allowed to possess guns.
