I would like to state the case for Sheila Gilmour for mayor.
Sheila has had great experience in the military working with people of various ages, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds with the goal of bringing people together to work toward a good outcome for all. We need that kind of experience, skill, and dedication in this town.
Sheila has also studied in higher education the workings of governments and would have gained the training and insight to make our town function as it should, not leaning on biases on one side or the other. The people who have lived here their whole lives need the newcomers with their education, experience and resources to make this town function at its best. We need to live together with respectful dialogue, appreciation of our differences, and thankfulness for our diversity. Be grateful that everyone is not like me or you.
You have all heard of climate change. I believe it is “climate crisis.” I believe we have too many 60-and 70-year-olds running our governments — local, state and federal.
We need to get 40-and 50-year-olds in our governments to make the decisions that will tackle the climate crisis head on, so there will be an Earth livable for our children and grandchildren. You have heard “Do no harm down to the Seventh Generation.”
We cannot wait any longer to have this chance.
Sheila is by far the best candidate willing to take on this challenge. Thank you.
