GREENFIELD — Residents can tour Tapestry’s Franklin County harm reduction site, learn about its programs and services, meet staff and receive Narcan training during an open house tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.

The open house will be at the syringe access site, 8 Church St., in the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew in the Parish Hall basement.

In addition to providing sterile syringes and safe syringe disposal, services include drug-use counseling; overdose prevention education, Narcan access and training; STD, HIV and Hepatitis C testing; and referrals to drug treatment programs and medical care, according to a Tapestry press release.

Liz Whynott, director of harm reduction, said the open house will allow community members to learn more about what Tapestry does.

“We look forward to having community members come to our site to better understand our program,” Whynott said. “We are grateful to everyone in the community who was supportive to the opening and the continued operation of the Greenfield syringe access site. The services provided are crucial to reducing the rate of HIV and Hepatitis C infections, as well as reducing overdoses through educating people how to both prevent and reverse an overdose and give them Narcan.”

The event is free and open to the public. Site tours and free refreshments will be provided. Advance registration is encouraged but not required at tapestryhealth.org/greenfield-open-house.
