The 13th Annual Berkshire Highlands Pentathlon had 210 participants at Berkshire East Mountain Resort on March 28.

Kristian Whitsett of Shelburne Falls won the Brave Heart (guys) division for the fifth time. Zach Livingston, also of Shelburne Falls, was second. Charlotte Lellman came from Jamaica Plain to win the Brave Heart (gals) class. Tori LaVerdiere of Easthampton was second and Meghan McEvoy from Westminster came in third. Oscar Reich of Amherst won the U-19 Brave Heart Laddie class.

Parker Ate 9 (Taylor witnessed) from Amherst won the Tam-O-Shanter Team of Two college division. The Cherboffs from Cambridge won the general team of two, Billings Brook Farm of Hawley and Ashfield came in second.

Bears, Beers and Battlestar Gallactica won the three–five person team category and was the first overall finisher. Their team came from Concord, Dalton, Cummington and Pittsfield. Run of the Mill from Shelburne Falls, captained by Brad Walker was second and Woodsmith Woodchucks from Montague, Leverett, Gill and Belchertown came in third.

The Gump Truckers from Conway won the family division and Jay Gump was the fastest overall cyclist this year. Their team finished second overall. Stay Hard from Kingston, N.Y was second place and Brindley-califragillisticexpialidocious came from Wilton, Conn. to nab third for the podium finish. There were eight family teams this year.

The Zephyrs from Buckland, Shelburne Falls and Northampton were the first 50+ team this year. The West County Older Stars from Ashfield, Buckland, Chesterfield and Cummington beat the Elderly Pentathloners from Leverett, Shutesbury, Amherst, Pittsfield, and Jersey City, N.J. in the 70+ team category.

In the U-19 two-person team class, C.B.C.R. Dynamic Duo from Clarksburg and North Adams prevailed over Team May Belle of Shelburne Falls.

The U-19 three-five person division had five teams this year. The 4 Wise Weary Whimsical Wonderful Penguins from Ashfield, Buckland and Shelburne Falls prevailed in first place. The Thunder Beasts from Deerfield, Shelburne Falls and Dover, Vt. came in second and The Club Sandwiches from Amherst, Conway and South Hadley came in third.

Golf

Richard Rockstroh carded a hole-in-one at the Country Club of Greenfield on April 17. Rockstroh’s shot occurred on the 15th hole. He used a pitching wedge on the 99-yarder. Ben Welsh, Jeff Neipp, Doug Finck all witnessed the ace. It was Rockstroh’s third hole-in-one.

Prep

Here are some scores from Deerfield Academy on April 18. Girls lacrosse beat Taft, 17-6. Boys lacrosse also beat Taft, 13-6. Softball defeated Taft, 13-3. Baseball split a double-header with Dexter-Southfield. In game one, the Big Green lost 4-1. In Game two, Deerfield won 7-6. Boys tennis defeated Andover, 4-3. Girls tennis lost to Exeter, 5-4.
