Believe it or not, we have had world peace since the U.S. bombed Japan which ended World War II. Politicians the world over always find a reason to war but seem clueless in bringing about peace. Why? War promises new real estate; new wealth and a legacy; peace makes us enjoy what we have (perish the thought).
Our world leaders did one thing “right.” They invented the nuclear bomb and made them available worldwide. Since Cain killed his brother Abel, peace comes and goes like an afternoon shower, but a massive stockpile of nuclear weapons will keep the peace like no other human effort can.
But you say, “look at all the strife and unrest since Japan.” That’s my point; man is always bent to war, but instant annihilation has changed the dynamic. Vietnam had all the makings of World War III, but ended as it started; with our planet intact.
Of course, a North Korea-type regime could decide if they cannot rule the world, then they will blow it to bits. Fortunately however, man is too selfish to go for that — a blessing from man’s degenerate nature employed to save his own hide.
There is one way to peace that excels all others: Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, mind and strength and love thy neighbor as thyself. Problem is, this world will have none of that Judeo-Christian talk. Sadly, it will take an Armageddon to get that done.
