The headline article ”MassDEP: No danger to public after sulphuric acid leak” is insane. Thousands of fish and other creatures died from a leaked holding tank at the Barnhardt Manufacturing Company in Colrain. The North River was poisoned, period.
The newspaper should have dived deep into when were the holding tanks last inspected and who is responsible for the leak in the first place.
When the MassDEP states, there is no danger to the public, that is completely irresponsible. The public uses the river, many species live in the river and there are multiple drinking wells along the river.
The MassDEP needs to get there act together. It’s people who are a danger to the public, which includes all living things.
