St. Mary’s Women’s Club in Orange will start its new club year on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with a chicken parmesan and spaghetti dinner in the Parish Center. Members will gather at 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. meal. Newly elected president Mary Carey will outline the schedule for the upcoming year and new program booklets will be distributed.
Fair Chairman Maureen Riendeau will be enlisting workers for the Oct. 12 Parish Fair and raffle tickets for the cash raffle will be distributed.
There are many areas in which members and parishioners can be of help. The baked goods and candy table and the produce and jelly tables are always in need of donations, according to a press statement about the meeting. The center table tin-can raffle will need more prizes before Oct. 7. A small gift and attic treasures table will replace the tag sale area and there will be an expanded children’s room and puzzle and book sale. As always, lunch will be beef stew and homemade pies, but there will be an expanded offering of breakfast pastry along with sandwiches and beverages.
The next month will be spent collecting raffle prizes, especially for the restaurant gift certificate raffle and center table and planning for items to be sold on the various tables. Popcorn, apples and kitchen accessories will be the main focus of sale tables, and raffles will include a $100 cash raffle, $100 in scratch tickets and $50 cash.
Members who have not been contacted about the dinner should call Ginette Richard or leave a message at the rectory, 978-544-2900. St. Mary’s Women’s Club typically meets the second Tuesday of the month from September through May, with a special meeting in June.
