In the eighth running of the Northfield Summer Road Race Thursday, Paulina Baltazar crossed the finish line in 22:57, taking home first place.

Dan Smith crossed one second after Baltazar, while Marcy Cabanas was third across the finish line with a time of 23:34. 

Noah de Ruiter was fourth with a 24:47 finish and Neal Gifford was fifth in 25:10. 

Jon Reed (25:26), David Kaczenski (26:59), Chris Waslaski (27:04), Sarah Kaczenski (28:54) and Eric Lemm (29:42) rounded out the top 10 finishers. 

Finishing under the 40-minute mark were Bob Emberley (30:23), Nick de Ruiter (30:52), Raji Ballou (32:18), Lauri O’Brien (32:22), John Vescovi (35:08), Mary Buckley (35:57) and Tina McIntosh (38:31). 

The final runners to complete the race were Justin Lyman (40:42), Jen Lyman (40:43), Jen Reed (42:03) and Kena Vescovi (42:04). 

Isaac Bingham jogged the race while pushing a stroller while Dodi Hall and Dona Hall both walked the course. 

Golf

CFC

Ryan Martin had the top score in the Blue Tee Division of plus-8 in the Crumpin Fox Club Men’s League at the Crumpin Fox Club, Thursday.  

Chris Stoddard and Cam Merrigan tied for second with a plus-5 while David Donoghue and Douglas Taylor tied for fourth. 

Martin won skins on No. 1 and 2 with birdies, Donoghue won skins on No. 3 with a birdie and Taylor won skins on No. 8 with a birdie. 

Eric Barnes won closest to the pin on No. 9 (19 feet, eight inches) while Donoghue won on No. 3 (10 feet, four inches). 

In the Gold Tee Division, Chester Kugler took first with a plus-8 score, Richard Degray followed in second with a plus-4 and Phil Phillips took third with a plus-1. 

Phillips and Kugler each won skins for birdies, Phillips on No. 5 and Kugler on No. 2. 

In closest to the pin, Kugler won on No. 3 (17 feet, nine inches) and Degray won on No. 9 (25 feet). 

CC of Greenfield

Greg Call and Bob Zaikowski tied with John Cariddi and Stan Maynard for first place in the Greenfield Elks Golf League at the Country Club of Greenfield, Thursday, with each team scoring 70 points. 

Bob Ferris and Vinnie Melendez took second with 69 points while Mike Larabee and Tom Rogers finished third with 68.5 points. 

Mike Duclos won closest to the pin on No. 5 (eight feet, 10 inches). 

Northfield

David Snow and Ray Kendrick shot the top low gross score of 35 in the Timmons League at the Northfield Golf Course, Wednesday.

Harry Hyams and Jim Cadran had the second low gross of 37 after a match of cards. 

John Hodgman and Cody Lapine won a match of cards to take home the top low net score of 27, with Doug Turner and Duff Delano finishing with the second low net after a match of cards with a 28. 

Andy Lesenski and Matt Deane each won closest to the pin, Lesenski on No. 6 (five feet, a half inch) and Deane on No. 7 (five feet, four inches). 

Hodgman was the match medalist with a 37, followed closely by Shane Foster, Cadran and Scott Powers with 38’s. 

Running

Montague Mug Race

Registration is still going for the 39th annual Montague Mug Race, set for Saturday at the Village Common.

The 5.5-mile race blasts off at 8:30 a.m. Pewter Mugs are awarded to top male/female finishers and coffee mugs to top finishers of each division. T-shirts are given to the first 90 runners.

Now in its 15th year, the Mini Mug Race will kick off at 8:35. This 2-mile course is a great scenic route around the Old South Cemetery. Both races will finish at the ball field. All runners are entered into drawing for local prizes. The course is well marked with plenty of water stops and features a few challenging hills with a run along the Connecticut River.

Don Maynard Race 

The 25th Annual Don Maynard 5 Mile Road Race and 2.5 mile walk is set for Sept. 21, starting at 9:30 a.m.
