SHELBURNE — More than 60 people will enjoy an al fresco meal paired with locally-made hard ciders on Sunday, benefiting both their taste buds and a good cause.
The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts will be hosting a sold-out cider pairing dinner at Apex Orchards. Tickets sold for $85 each, with all proceeds going to the food bank.
“Every $1 brought in will provide three meals for our neighbors in need,” said Jennifer Therkelsen, event coordinator for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
Weather permitting, those in attendance will be treated to dinner overlooking the picturesque sprawling grounds of Apex Orchards. There will be a live cellist and tractor tours of the orchard during the cocktail hour, Therkelsen said.
Wheelhouse, from Holyoke, will be preparing a multi-course meal for the summer celebration. According to its website, Wheelhouse sources nearly all of its ingredients from local farms and vendors in Western Massachusetts.
“We’re really celebrating the local bounty with so much being offered now,” Therkelsen said.
Each ticket includes carefully chosen hard cider pairings. Cider for the evening will be provided by Artifact Cider Project and Headwater Cider.
