Those in pursuit of new fitness class options are in luck, as Pursuit Pilates Club is hosting an open house to introduce people to its new Greenfield location.
The business, which first opened last December in South Deerfield, moved to 91 Main St., Unit 1B in Greenfield earlier this summer, and will open its doors to the public from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, so people can see the space and learn about class options.
“We got settled in really quickly,” Pursuit Pilates Club owner Emily Coderre said about the move. “It’s been a really great transition. … We’re really excited to be a part of the heart of Greenfield.”
Coderre said the club’s new location is larger and more convenient for clients, and since classes have started in Greenfield, she’s heard good feedback, particularly from patrons who live in Greenfield and are now close enough to walk, run or bike to the studio.
“A lot of clients who were going to Deerfield said Greenfield is so much more convenient,” Coderre said. “It’s bigger, we have our own bathroom. … It was very crowded before. Now there’s so much more breathing room.”
Previously, when operating in a 500-square-foot space in South Deerfield, the business used two small rooms: one for reformer classes and one for mat classes. At the Greenfield location, Pursuit Pilates Club has one larger room, so although the business can no longer run two concurrent classes, students and instructors have more space to move around.
Coderre said the new location has similar vibes to the old one, but they do vary slightly in that the walls are plain brick, rather than the emerald green walls and white floral wall behind a bright “Pursuit Pilates Club” sign that the previous location sported.
The open house on Sept. 19 is an opportunity for people to get a feel for what Pursuit Pilates Club has to offer, Coderre said.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to meet the instructor and try out the equipment before trying a class,” Coderre said. “It’s not an easy thing to try a new group exercise class, so this is a way to become more comfortable.”
Pursuit Pilates Club offers reformer and mat Pilates classes, as well as Vinyasa flow yoga and Barre fusion classes. Mat Pilates involves exercises on a mat with more cushion and density than a yoga mat, and reformer Pilates takes the exercises to a machine. Reformer Pilates exercises require a reformer, a bed-like contraption with springs, straps, a “tower” and a foot bar. Prices range from $25 for a single mat class and $35 for a single reformer class to $150 for unlimited mat classes and $312 for 12 reformer classes per month.
With the move, Coderre said Pursuit Pilates Club will also be working on some website rebranding, changing class names to better fit the brand and relaunching Coderre’s Pilates on-demand classes. She explained she has previously recorded video Pilates classes for people wanting to exercise at home, but she has not done so since opening her brick-and-mortar location and she wants to bring the option back.
The open house is free to attend, Coderre said. There will also be a few vendors selling fitness equipment, clothing and other items. Registration is not required, but those who are interested are encouraged to RSVP at momence.com/Pursuit-Pilates-Club/Fall-Open-House/141061837.
