Local authorities helped federal agents to execute search warrants at Whately, Deerfield and Greenfield addresses on Tuesday.
Northwestern District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Mary Carey confirmed in a statement Wednesday morning that the Northwestern District Attorney’s Anti-Crime Task Force and local police departments assisted the United States Food and Drug Administration Office of Criminal Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration and United States Postal Inspection Service with the searches.
After vehicles and men were seen entering and exiting a property at 223 State Road in Whately, Whately Police Chief James Sevigne Jr. confirmed Tuesday that federal agents were conducting an operation at the home, and that his department was involved but not in charge of the operation.
Sevigne declined to give further details, stating that it is a federal matter.
The additional properties that were searched are currently unknown. This story will be updated as more details become available.
