Max Caron and Ben Schrenzel each won by bagel at the top two singles spots and Belchertown High School defeated Turners Falls High School, 5-0, in an independent boys tennis match Tuesday afternoon at the Ludlow Tennis Club.

Caron bested Will Turn 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, while Schrenzel topped Brian Poirier 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Colby Masse bested Brody Trott 6-4, 6-2 at third singles for the Orioles.

Korey Houle and Sam Rogalewski beat Joseph Kochan and Josh Gaulin 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles, and Ian Roche and Noah Troy got past Mike Boyle and Corrin Wisnewski 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

Four Rivers seeks soccer coaches

Four Rivers Charter Public School is looking to hire soccer coaches for the fall 2019 season.

Field hockey

F.C. Clinic

Registrations are now being accepted for the Franklin County Field Hockey Clinic, which will take place July 15-19 at Greenfield High School.

The clinic is run by GHS coach Erin Thayer as well as high school players from her team. It is open to students entering grades 3 through 7.

The clinic runs each day from 9 a.m. until noon and costs $150. Players can purchase an equipment package (which includes stick, ball, mouth guard and shin guard) for an additional $60.

The clinic will focus on stretching and footwork drills, fundamental skills, and offensive and defensive skills as well as small games and 7 vs. 7 scrimmages.

Union 38 summer clinic

Union 38 will hold an introductory program for girls in grades 3-7 from the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway.

Missy Mahar, the Frontier Regional School varsity field hockey coach, will sponsor a three-day clinic. The focus will be on skill development with a variety of drills and learning scenarios. Field hockey sticks, balls and shin guards will be provided to the first 35 girls who register (there is an equipment deposit). Girls are asked to bring a mouth guard and water bottle each day.

The clinic runs June 18-20 from 9 a.m. until noon each day at Frontier’s field hockey field in South Deerfield. Call the Deerfield Recreation office at 665-1400 ext. 107 or email suea@town.deerfieldma.us, or registration forms can be found online at www.deerfieldma.us

Equipment pick up is June 18 at 8:30 a.m. at Frontier. Registration is $80 with a $50 equipment deposit.

Suchanek Outing

The Tom Suchanek Baseball Classic Scholarship/Athletic Golf Outing will take place on June 22 at the Country Club of Greenfield.

The outing is a four-person scramble that tees off at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per foursome and includes 18 holes of golf with cart, snacks, dinner and door prize. Prizes are awarded for mixed foursome score, low net, low gross, longest drive, closest to the pin and holes in one.
