HEATH — Despite a half-empty empty ballot, 35 percent of the town’s 541 registered voters turned out to Friday’s Annual Election, sending three townspeople to office.
Three positions remain vacant — assessor, library trustee and Mohawk Trail Regional District School Committee member — and now they await acceptances from various write-in candidates.
The only contested race, for Finance Committee, was won by Alice Wozniak, who works as a town assessor in both Colrain and Heath. Her opponent, the incumbent Paul Dabrody, ran as a write-in candidate as he did not submit papers in time. Wozniak received 109 votes while Dabrody secured 59.
Robyn Provost-Carlson won re-election to the Selectboard seat for a three-year term.
Jo Travis won re-election to the Planning Board seat for a five-year term.
The only ballot question, concerning Proposition 2 ½, was approved, with 146 in favor, 36 against and 10 blank. The question asked voters to exempt the town from Proposition 2 ½, a law limiting municipal tax increases, to pay for broadband installation in the coming years.
