LifePath will host its 27th Meals on Wheels Walkathon on Saturday to benefit LifePath’s nutrition program serving elders living in Franklin County and the North Quabbin region.

Besides walking, features of the event include the nutrition and Healthy Living tents, two Morris dancing teams, and WHAI broadcasting live. The event is 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at LifePath, 101 Munson St, Greenfield.

Sponsors and members of the community who have been fundraising will come together on Saturday to show elders their support as they walk for options for independence. Last year more than 200 walkers and volunteers hosted more than 30 teams, and promoted more than 60 sponsors.

LifePath’s nutrition program, which includes both Meals on Wheels and congregate meals, provides balanced nutrition, socialization, and wellness checks for elders, enabling them to live more independently than they could without this support.

LifePath’s Meals on Wheels program delivers an average of 550 meals per day to elders in need of this support in Franklin County and the North Quabbin region. Its 55 volunteer drivers cover the 30 town area and deliver more than 127,000 meals annually.

With this event, and associated efforts, LifePath aims to raise $100,000 to close the gap between what LifePath receives in government funding and what the true cost is to run the program.
