Women’s Fest set for Sunday

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The South Deerfield Women’s Club has planned Women’s Fest for 3 to 6 p.m. at the Polish American Citizens Club on Sunday.

Clothing, CDs, DVDs and books will be for sale. There will also be free appetizers and a cash bar, as well as a raffle of local products.

People are invited to bring freshly-laundered, in-style clothing, accessories, CDs, DVDs and books between 2 and 3 p.m. Undergarments and athletic-wear cannot be accepted. All proceeds benefit the South Deerfield community.

Deerfield dog licenses due

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Dog licenses are due by May 1 to avoid a $50 late fee.

New dogs must be licensed within 30 days of their arrival to Deerfield. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required to purchase a dog license. Licenses can be purchased at the Town Clerk’s office, by mail, or online at bit.ly/2HwFQLvby.

It costs $5 to license spayed or neutered dogs (with veterinarian paperwork as proof) and $10 for unaltered dogs. It is an extra 50 cents per dog if licenses are paid by mail. All dogs 6 months or older must be licensed with the Town Clerk’s office each year.

Anyone 70 or older can call the Town Clerk’s office at 413-665-1400, ext. 101, to have the fee waived.

Call the Town Clerk’s office if you are unsure if you have already licensed your dog in 2019.

Conway Fireman’s Auxiliary scholarship available

CONWAY — The Conway Fireman’s Auxiliary scholarship is awarded annually to a Conway resident graduating from high school.

Primary consideration will be given to students that have been involved in community service and/or extracurricular activities and who plan to further their education in either a college, trade school, or certificate program. Grades and financial need will also be considered.

Highway facility discussion set for May 4

CONWAY — A public discussion of the proposal for the new highway facility is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon in the Town Hall General Purpose Room at 5 Academy Hill Road on May 4.

Town Administrator Tom Hutcheson previously said the current facility on Route 116 has “been unsatisfactory for quite some time.” 

Pre-Town Meeting potluck, discussion on May 6

CONWAY — Residents are invited to a pre-Town Meeting dessert potluck and discussion the Conway Grammar School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 6.

Bring a dessert to share that can be served on a napkin, serving utensils (if needed), and a reusable cup/mug/spoon. Beverages will be provided. Residents with information about particular warrant articles are encouraged to bring handouts. Come with questions about Town Meeting warrant articles, procedures, and definitions. There will be an opportunity to meet candidates for town office.
