BERNARDSTON — The Kiwanis’ last chicken pot pie supper of the season will be held Saturday and will benefit The United Arc in Turners Falls and Greenfield.

Kiwanis member Dan Devine said the dinner will be held as a memorial to Lillian Deane, who died in 2017. She and her husband, Russ, a longtime member of the club, helped form The United Arc many years ago. The United Arc supports people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving the goals of inclusion, choice and independence

Lillian Deane was a longtime member on the Arc’s board of directors. The two raised a daughter “Miss Nanci,” who benefited from the nonprofit’s many services. As the couple’s daughter got older, the Deanes created transitional homes for her and others.

“The members of the Kiwanis Club of Bernardston would like to keep the spirit of the Deanes moving forward with some financial help from this dinner,” said Devine. “Any and all help would be appreciated.”

Devine said the Kiwanis Club appreciates all the help it has been given, including use of the United Church of Bernardston and from Franklin County Technical School’s culinary and baking students.

The all-you-can-eat dinner is served continuously from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the United Church of Bernardston, 58 Church St. Each dinner includes chicken pot pie, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, rolls and beverages, as well as homemade carrot cake.

The cost is $10 for dinner; $12 for a frozen take-out pie; $5 for children. There will be a donation basket set up, as well as raffle prizes.
