Shelburne resident Robert “Bo” Warren is hosting a 10th annual fish stocking event Friday with the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
Local children and their families are encouraged to attend and help stock trout in the Dragon Brook, which runs through Shelburne Center.
Warren is holding the event in his backyard at 38 Bardwells Ferry Road starting at 10 a.m. The brook happens to run through his property, he said.
Two biologists will give a short talk. Then, children can help stock the brook with trout, and enjoy a cookout with hot dogs and marshmallows.
The event gives children an opportunity to become more aware of their environment, Warren said.
“A lot of these kids have never seen trout stocking,” he said. “It’s a beautiful spot, there are waterfalls and everything.”
Warren said he hopes the event will bring the community together, over some trout-stocking and, of course, toasted marshmallows.
