The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold its monthly meeting in the conference room at St. Kazimierz Society in Turners Falls Wednesday night at 6.

Topics for discussion include opening day, 50th anniversary of the league, registration updates, skills day and player draft. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Babe Ruth registrations

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League has added registration periods for the upcoming season.

The registration periods will be held at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield on April 6, 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Coaching clinic at Frontier

A youth baseball coaching clinic hosted by Frontier’s Chris Williams and Pioneer’s Jordan Branson will be held April 14 from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Frontier Regional School gymnasium in South Deerfield.

The cost of the clinic is $10.

Coach Williams will focus on structuring practices to maximize repetitions so kids improve and perform consistently, keeping it fun, and keeping kids accountable.

Coach Branson will focus on evaluation and improvement of individual hitting, pitching, and fielding – finding strengths but also how to help kids improve technique and attitude.

Volleyball

PV 14s win

The Pioneer Valley 14s Crocodiles won the gold medal at a tournament in Wilton, Conn. over the weekend.

After finishing first in pool play, the Crocs beat the Huskies, 27-25, in the semifinals, and then beat the NE Shock, 25-23, in the championship.

The team, which has won four straight gold medals includes Caroline Dean, Lucia Doulette, Arianna Miller, Olivia Noyes, Annabel Ogden, Shelby Orloski and Eloise Tuleja.
