Baronas steps away from board

SOUTH DEERFIELD – Deerfield Planning Board member John Baronas will not run for re-election in May.

He said he has served on the board for at least 12 years and that it is time for someone else to have the seat.

He said he was involved with crafting the town’s stormwater bylaw and the right-to-farm bylaw.

Deerfield STM, ATM coming

SOUTH DEERFIELD – The town has a special town meeting slated for 7 p.m. in the Deerfield Town Offices on Feb. 25.

The final day to register to vote is Feb. 15 until 8 p.m.

The town’s Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Frontier Regional School on April 29. Town elections are on May 6. The final day to register to vote for both is April 9.

Outgoing Town Administrator Wendy Foxmyn, whose final day was Thursday, said Deerfield’s bylaw requires the Annual Town Meeting to be held the final Monday of April and annual election to be held the first Monday in May.

Ghostwriter to give presentation Feb. 27

SOUTH DEERFIELD – Local ghostwriter Claudia Gere is scheduled to present “Who ya gonna call? Ghostwriter!” at the Feb. 27 meeting of the South Deerfield Women’s Club.

The presentation is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Family Church Community Center on Sugarloaf Street. Gere will explain how she ghostwrites and talk about the challenges and pitfalls of a ghostwriter. A question-and-answer session will follow the demonstration. The event is free and open to the public.

A ghostwriter is hired to write something that is officially credited to another person as the author.
