BUCKLAND — Candidates for interim town administrator will be interviewed by the Selectboard today at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.

There are two candidates, said Selectboard member Barry Del Castilho. At 6 p.m. the board interviews Kevin Paicos, a retired U.S. Army captain who has 18 years of experience in town management, most recently in Foxborough.

At 6:30, Robert Markel, who has 12 years’ experience in town management plus 14 years’ experience in elected positions in Springfield, including mayor, and has served on faculty for four colleges and universities in Massachusetts will be interviewed.

The Selectboard may or may make a decision to hire immediately after the interviews. The real deadline to make a decision is Dec. 31, which is Town Administrator Andrea Llamas’ last day in Buckland, Del Castilho said.

The amount of time the interim town administrator will be in place is not set, but there is a “tentative consensus” within the Selectboard, Del Castilho said, that the position will last through the May town meeting.
