Annual Sawmill River 10k Run: Registration has begun for this New Year’s Tradition. The Sawmill Run will be Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019 in Montague Center Village with a 10 a.m. start. Register online @ www.runreg.com or www.montague.net. Entry fees: $30 (Paid before noon Dec. 31), $35 (paid thereafter). This is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. Divisions include Youth (18 years and under), Open (19 to 39), Master (40 to 49), Senior (50 to 59), Senior + (60 and up). Proceeds benefit our Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program.
Open Swim: Turners Falls High School Pool Tuesday and Friday evenings: Jan. 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25 and 29; Feb. 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22 and 26; March 1, 5, 8. Family Swim is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with Adult Lap Swim from 7:30 to 8:30. Youths under 12 must be accompanied by adult. Season passes are available; call for rates.
American Red Cross Babysitting Course: Tuesday, Feb. 5, and Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Obtain the knowledge and resources to become a great babysitter. This fun, interactive course teaches students first aid and safety skills, as well as helpful tips on how to prevent and respond to emergencies. For youths ages 11 to 15 at Community Room, Montague Public Safety Building. Fees: Montague residents $40, non-residents $45. Registration required. Deadline is Friday, Jan. 25.
