Police: 13 victims identified in nude photo-sharing case

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — Rhode Island State police say they have identified 13 victims in a nude image-sharing case involving electronics repair store employees.

The Newport Daily News reports the alleged victims told investigators that they didn’t give Flint Audio Video employees permission to search through the files and share them.

In July, police charged both co-owners of the Middletown store, 58-year-old Gary Gagne and 35-year-old Daniel Anton, with soliciting others to commit the crime of accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes and conspiracy. Employees Terrance Roy, of Seekonk, Massachusetts, 43-year-old Geoffrey Preuit, of Warwick and 34-year-old George Quintal are charged with stealing and sharing nude images.

Quintal’s attorney said his client has pleaded not guilty and the state will have to prove its case.

Police say employees accessed private images found on devices brought in for repair and shared them.

3 arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana through airport

BOSTON — Massachusetts State Police say travelers tried to smuggle more than 150 pounds of marijuana in suitcases through Logan International Airport.

State Police say California residents Jerry McNair, Ladonna Hardman and Saudia Watson were arrested Saturday at the airport.

Police say they received a tip from law enforcement in Sacramento County that McNair and Hardman were traveling with large amounts of marijuana in several suitcases.

Police say when the two arrived at the baggage claim area in Logan, they noticed that a third person with them had similar luggage.

Police say searches of their luggage turned up more than 150 pounds of marijuana.

The three have been charged with conspiracy to marijuana trafficking and other offenses.

Police: Florida man arrested in stabbing at Bridgewater home

BOSTON — Police say a 27-year-old Florida man who was staying at a home in Massachusetts stabbed a couple who live there.

Authorities say the stabbing happened early Monday at a home in Bridgewater. Police say Andrew Soto of Leesburg, Florida has been arrested.

Police say Soto flew to Massachusetts on Sunday and was staying at the victims’ home.

Police say he called the woman into the hallway after she woke up to go to work and began stabbing her. Police say he then stabbed her husband when he tried to intervene.

The relationship between Soto and the victims was not immediately clear.

Police say the man and woman suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

1 dead in Fall River building fire

FALL RIVER — Authorities say a man has died in a building fire in Fall River.

Officials say the fire started early Sunday in a multi-family building and the man became trapped in his second floor apartment.

Authorities say the man was rescued from the building and taken to the hospital where he later died.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The man’s identify has not been released.

Police shoot man after high-speed chase, crash

EASTON — Police have shot and injured a man following a high-speed chase and car crash in Massachusetts.

The shooting happened Sunday afternoon in Easton.

Police Chief Gary Sullivan says a woman called police earlier to report a man was knocking on her door and a vehicle was in her driveway.

The man got into the car and fled when officers arrived, and he later crashed into another vehicle.

Sullivan says the man got out of his car after the crash and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at officers.

Police opened fire and struck the man at least once.

The man has been hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. Sullivan says no officers were injured, and the driver of the other car involved in the crash was not injured.
