Frontier to post notices, agendas on website

SOUTH DEERFIELD — In accordance with the Open Meeting Law, Frontier Regional School Committee voted at its Dec. 11 meeting to use the alternative method for posting meeting notices for the Frontier Regional School District.

The law states regional school districts may post on the district’s website, as opposed to posting in each individual community within the region or district. FRSD will begin posting open meeting notices/agendas at www.frsu38.org, effective Dec. 17.

4th-graders collecting food to fill police cruiser

WHATELY — The fourth grade at Whately Elementary School is holding a food drive.

The school requests families donate non-perishable foods (for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts) by Dec. 18. Each child who brings in a non-perishable item will be given a gift tag so he or she can make the donation in a school staff member’s honor. The tag will be hung on a “Giving Tree” in the school’s foyer. The school notes that a donation is not required.

The Whately Police Department has volunteered to transfer the food on Dec. 20 and has challenged the students to fill one of its cruiser. According to Principal Kristina Kirton, the school is waiting to hear back from the food bank about a specific time for the drop-off.
