As we get older we lose some friends along the way. Over the past few years I realized I lost another friend — my library.
I just can’t get into it any more like the other three generations of my family can. Sure, my thoughtful daughter brings me books from there and tries to find titles that she thinks I would like. But there is nothing like strolling leisurely through the aisles and trying out a novel or a biography, just happening upon some wonderful find.
Don’t tell me they should just have a better ramp in the back or something, for it is over 120 feet from the closest place to park near the rear, and the bathroom is on a different floor.
I want a new library where I can stroll 15 feet into the library’s front door. I want my library back; I miss my old friend and how we used to spend quality time together.
Please join me on Thursday in the auditorium at Greenfield High School to support this project.
