Youth Gymnastics Classes: The YMCA offers youth gymnastics lessons for boys and girls ages 3-12. All of the classes meet in the Y’s top-notch gymnastic center. Gymnastics classes improve children’s power, balance, strength and confidence. All of the classes have a small student/teacher ratio. The next eight-week session is starting now. After School Childcare: The Y has a few openings in its After School Childcare Program. The program serves children in K-6th grades from Greenfield, Turners and Gill schools. The program utilizes the Y’s game room, Kid Fit Center, social room and basketball court each day for activities. There is easy pick up for parents via the rear entrance to the YMCA. Full-Day Preschool: The Y has three five-day slots and a few Tuesday and Thursday slots available. There are two air-conditioned classrooms, an outdoor play area, weekly swim and gymnastics lessons and daily P.E. School hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; also available is early care from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and late care from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The preschool meets on snow days as well. Pickleball: Pickleball is a fun, tennis-like game played with a wiffleball and wooden paddle and is easy to learn and a good workout. Visit www.usapa.org to find your Pickleball Rating. Please see gym schedule at ymcaingreenfield.org for details of levels. On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month (October-May) from 6 to 8:15 p.m. are Pickleball Social Nights at the Y. Other available times are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 5:30 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 7 to 9:20 p.m., Sunday, 8 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. Free for Y members, and a $10 day pass is required for nonmembers. Women’s Basketball Night: On Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m., the YMCA is hosting a Women’s Basketball Night for ages 19 and over to see if there is an interest in an ongoing program. Options could be weekly pick-up games, in-house Y league, an Athol/Greenfield Y league, etc. Nov. 28 will be free for all women, future nights will be free for Y member and $10 per night for others. Youth Weight Management Program: The YMCA, in partnership with Baystate Children’s Hospital and Kohls Cares, is now taking registrations for the MIGHTY program. The first six-month program will begin in January for boys and girls ages 10 to 13 who struggle with weight issues. MIGHTY is a free family program that meets twice a month for two hours.
