GREENFIELD — Local radio personality DJ “Bobby C” Campbell and friends are once again preparing for their annual Thanksgiving dinner fundraiser for needy families in Franklin County. This is the third time the fundraiser is being held and the local celebrity, with the help of others, will bring food to hungry neighbors.

Community members can sponsor a family for $50, which includes an 18-pound turkey, stuffing mix, potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, rolls and apple pie. Last year, the fundraiser fed more than 750 people — more than three times as many as the DJ and his friends fed the first year — between the families who received dinners, as well as a Salvation Army dinner and the Living Waters Assembly of God church dinner for which food was provided by the fundraiser. Both of those dinners were for needy families and individuals.

The Salvation Army will hold its annual Sunday before Thanksgiving dinner on Chapman Street this year on Nov. 18, while Living Waters Assembly of God church will hold its dinner on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, at noon in the church rectory at 450 Davis St.

Last year, Bobby C orchestrated 80 volunteers.

“It took a village to put this together, and we have the village. We knocked it out of the park,” said Campbell, who owns Bobby C’s D.J. Service and can be heard on regional radio stations including WHAI 98.3, last year. “All I am is a liaison to get things together. I have the time to put effort into doing it. But it’s run by the community. It’s all community supporters in this area that made this happen.”
