BUCKLAND – How do students at the Mohawk Trail Regional School prepare for college and careers?
Find out tonight, Sept. 20, at Mohawk’s annual Back To School Night, to meet with teachers, tour the building and learn more about this year’s offerings.
School families can see the newly created Design Lab, where students get hands-on learning, learn how to help students manage social media platforms and online safety, and learn about Mohawk’s plan in October to furnish Chromebook laptops to all middle- and high school students.
At 6 p.m., Co-principals Marisa Mendonsa and Lynn Dole will discuss plans for this year, including the Chromebook program and exploring options for schedule changes. Guidance counselors will also talk about social media and online safety for students.
At 6:30 p.m., high school families and students meet with their teachers, while middle school families will stay in the auditorium to learn about Mohawk’s arts, music, physical education, woodshop, digital literacy and French classes. The middle school families meet with their teachers at 6:45 p.m.
From 7 to 7:30 p.m. there is a “meet and greet” of potential Capstone mentors and senior students in the Capstone courses, to discuss potential capstone projects.
Also at 7 p.m., school-to-career Counselor Shannon Doran will talk about college and career readiness.
Free child care will be provided and refreshments will be served.
