Out-of-town patron backs new Greenfield library

I’m a Sunderland resident/tax payer who occasionally uses Greenfield library to borrow books or attend meetings.

I’m writing in support of Greenfield securing funds and support for a new library.

The benefits that Sunderland has reaped since the building of our wonderful library 10 years ago are incalculable. It’s worth every tax dollar we give to support it.  In addition to having wonderful library directors and staff, the spaces of the library are well used.  Frequently we could even use longer hours for community events.

We have children’s events in our spacious Children’s Book area and adjoining Activity Room.  We have a designated Teen Room.  There is a weekly knitting group attended by 10-18 or so knitters, creating a great community of friends who meet there for fellowship, mentoring and serious knitting.  The knitting area is a backdrop for community artist exhibits.

At the Sunderland Library we have a weekly coffee-klatch; a weekly Qui-gong class; a table-size jig saw puzzle that folks can drop in and work on.  In the entrance we have easily accessible, attractively displayed, recycled books for sale.  We even have a summer music series outdoors and under the stars in our beautiful garden, under an enormous maple tree, with free hotdogs, chips, drinks, and more.

The Greenfield Public Library already hosts a lively community of patrons.  Wouldn’t it be great if Greenfield residents also had a brand new shiny library?

Yours for a new Greenfield Community Public Library,

Susan Triolo
