SHELBURNE FALLS – Former “Hair’s the Thing” stylist Bonnie Martel has opened a new shop in Shelburne Falls, called Bon Salon, at 17 Bridge St., at the corner of Deerfield Avenue.
The shop itself isn’t new — and it certainly isn’t new to Martel, whose mother and aunts had their hair done there, back in the day when the shop was called “Judie’s Hair Care.”
Martel grew up in Hawley, but now lives in Erving.
Martel has been a hair stylist for 19 years, with the past eight years in two Greenfield shops: “Unique Stylist” and “Hair’s the Thing.” Many of her clientele from former shops are now coming to her new Shelburne Falls salon.
Also, Judie’s Hair Care customers can still get their hair done by Judie Dacyczyn, who works there Wednesday and Thursday.
Hair is done by appointment.
The shop is open Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It’s also open every other Saturday.
Martel’s specialties include skin services, hair perms, cuts, highlights and color, and facial waxing.
