CHARLEMONT — A two-car crash on Route 2 near Hall Tavern Farm Friday morning sent three people to the hospital, one with serious injuries.
The 67-year-old driver of a Chevy Colorado pickup sustained the more serious injuries, when his vehicle appeared to have crossed over from the west-bound lane on Route 2 over to the east-bound lane, Massachusetts State Police said. The accident remains under investigation.
First responders considered transporting the pickup driver by LifeFlight, but a helicopter was not readily available so he was sent by ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, state police said.
The driver of a sedan was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The passenger in the car was sent for evaluation, Charlemont Fire Capt. Shane Furlon said.
The accident, which occurred around 9:50 a.m., slowed down traffic in the area just west of Crab Apple Whitewater and in front of the Hall Tavern Farm for close to an hour.
