What’s so hard about crossing the street? Years ago painted on the intersections of the sidewalks were these words: “Stop, Look, Listen.” It was a good idea then and it still is, now.
White lines 12-inches-wide, and about 6-feet-long are painted to depict the crosswalks that are placed where visibility is great for pedestrians and motorists. This is the safe place to cross streets. Both the drivers and walkers can see each other. If people are driving down the street and have to stop every 10 feet for an errant walker, by the time they get to the crosswalk, they might feel they have stopped enough.
My dad told me: “One and one are two; it’s not that complicated.” Why not work together — walkers cross at crosswalks, and drivers stop for walkers! What? Who me?
