NORTHFIELD — Philadelphia organist Gary Garletts will be playing at Trinitarian Congregational Church, 147 Main St., on Sunday, Aug. 5, at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Kurt Nelson of Dallas, Texas will be preaching. Garlett is minister of music at Ardmore Presbyterian Church. He is the conductor of a large choral group in West Chester, Pa., and a frequent soloist and piano accompanist in the Philadelphia area. He received degrees from Oberlin and Duquesne universities.
Ridge Sunday is an annual service put on by residents of the summer community known as “the Ridge,” that dates to the early 20th century when evangelist Dwight L. Moody’s summer conferences swelled the local population. A special coffee hour will follow.
NORTHFIELD — The once-a-year “Ridge Sunday” community choir under the direction of Janet Abel invites all singers to participate in a rousing and inspiring choral experience on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Trinitarian Congregational Church, 147 Main St., in Northfield.
Rehearsals are Friday, Aug. 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. The service is at 9:30 a.m.
CONWAY — Many of you have heard that the UCC Conway church building will need to be razed due to the extensive tornado damage. We will be holding a community-wide public candlelight vigil on Sunday, July 22, at 8 p.m. It will be held across the street from the church on Whately Road. Please join us as we close one chapter of our journey and say goodbye to this iconic and historic building.
DEERFIELD — Come gather Sunday, July 22, at 7 p.m., at The First Church of Deerfield, 71 Old Main St., for hymns and prayers from the Celtic Tradition, music by cellist Mark Fraser, and sharing of bread and cup. Our communion is open to all. There will be no morning worship on July 22.

CONWAY — This month, the United Congregational Church of Conway is celebrating its 250th anniversary, having begun in 1768. NEW SALEM — The Pioneer Valley Brass will perform a free public concert of traditional and modern music arranged for brass on Sunday, July 22, at 4 p.m., at the Swift River Valley Historical Society in new Salem. This program coincides with the anniversary of the birthday of Mary Clary, who lived for many years in the Whitaker-Clary House, which is part of the museum today. Birthday cake will be served after the concert.
The program is sponsored by the First Universalist Parish of North Dana to further the memory of the parish, which was forced to leave North Dana for the creation of the Quabbin Reservoir 80 years ago.
