Ben Werner allowed one run in four innings to pick up the win and Nico Siano added two hits as Aubuchon Hardware defeated Freedom Credit Union, 4-3, in a well-played Greenfield Minor League Baseball AAA Division game Tuesday night at Vets Field.

David Knox, Ethan Mauthe, Brody Welcome and Grayson Thomas all hit safely in the win for Aubuchon.

Jackson Petrin totaled three hits, including a triple, for Freedom, while Chase Zraunig added a pair of hits. Petrin and Hannah Gilbert combined to handle the pitching duties on the night.

• Elsewhere, Mike Cyhowski struck out nine in 4⅔ strong innings of work as Rotary Club defeated Tognarelli Heating & Cooling, 10-4, at Lunt Field.

Cyhowski added a single and a double at the plate, while Brayden Arsenault and Jackson Glazier also doubled. Jaida Menard tripled for Rotary.

Tognarelli’s was powered by two hits from Tristan James and Aaron Morrissey. Sam Bucala recorded hit first career AAA hit.

• In other action, Caleb Johnston recorded three triples and drove in seven runs to help Denny’s Pantry to an 18-13 win over Nap’s Auto Sales & Service.

Judah Glenn clubbed three hits and drove in two runs for Denny’s. Matt Stiles doubled and added three RBIs, and Aidan Shea (two hits) and Dylan Breiwick (hit) also contributed. Eric Martineau pitched well in the contest.

Nap’s Malik Moore singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Evan Tsipenyuk doubled and Reid Hager and Jayden Hunter each had a hit.

Sandy Koufax

Cayden Lehtomaki singled and tripled to go with an RBI but the Pioneer Stone Seals/Travel Kuz dropped a 5-3 decision to Amherst in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Sandy Koufax game Tuesday.

Chris Miner singled and doubled while adding an RBI. Josh Brunelle and Hunter Haughey each had a hit.

Greenfield 11U goes 4-1

It was a stellar weekend for the Greenfield All-Stars 11U Tournament Team, as the club went 4-1 baseball at the Swanzey (N.H.) Invitational.

Greenfield defeated Hinsdale, 12-2, while also defeating Kearsarge Valley (18-9), Swanzey (9-2) and Hollis (14-4). The lone loss came to powerhouse Keene, 12-2.

Brayden Thayer paced the Greenfield offensive attack with seven hits, including a double and a triple, to go with four RBIs and seven runs scored. Jackson Campbell (three hits, seven RBIs, seven runs) and Ethan Quinn (six hits, seven RBIs) also had big offensive outputs, while Greenfield also received contributions from Braeden Tsipenyuk (six hits, five RBIs), Hugh Cyhowski (two hits, three RBIs, five runs), Cam Burnett (five hits, seven RBIs, five runs), Devin Dubie (four hits, two RBIs, four runs), Jake Brook (two hits, three runs), Heath Gomez (two hits, five runs), William Ainsworth (two hits, five RBIs, six runs), Matt Garvin (two RBI, five runs) and Silas Muzzy (three hits, three RBIs).

Teddy Bear wins

Sam Downes struck out eight in five innings of work, lifting Teddy Bear Pools above the .500 mark with a 7-2 victory over the Longmeadow Warriors in a Tri-County League amateur baseball game Tuesday night at Longmeadow High School.

Teddy Bear (4-3) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and led 3-2 late before tacking on one in the sixth and three in the seventh to put things out of reach.

Downes allowed two runs before Cody Cleveland posted zeroes in the final two innings to close out the victory.

Andrew Serio was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the win, while Brad Bean had a hit and two RBIs. Chris Williams was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Teddy Bear, which outhit Longmeadow, 8-5, is right back at it tonight when it hosts Wilbraham Funeral Home at 6 p.m. in South Deerfield.

Youth softball

Frontier Suburban

Winning pitcher Julia Hioe added two hits at the plate to help Frontier Red to a 12-9 win over Frontier Blue in a 14-and-under Suburban League softball game Tuesday night at Zabek Field in South Deerfield.

Savannah Upton had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for Frontier Red. Amanda Canepa, Liv Dow and Tia Gottschalk all added hits, and Amalie Joyce doubled.

Frontier Blue’s Lucy Howard and Marley Higgins each totaled two hits and drove in a run

Valley Storm 16U

Courtney Dunham recorded 29 strikeouts in four games as the Valley Storm 16U softball team competed in a tournament in East Hartford over the weekend.

Dunham had four hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs. Emily Young smacked seven hits in four games to go with an RBI, and Olivia Deane added four hits and an RBI.

Adult softball

Greenfield Co-Rec

Jarrod Towne was 4-for-5 with a home run while Matt Weeden had four hits and Allison Weeden added three hits to lift Taylor’s Tavern to an 18-10 win over The Spirit Shoppe in a Greenfield Adult Co-Rec Softball League contest Tuesday night at Greenfield Middle School.

Spirit Shoppe’s Jay Avery was 4-for-5 in the loss. Marissa Visocchi added three hits.

• Elsewhere, Nathan Scarborough and Morghan Orrell were both 4-for-5, and Orrell clubbed two doubles to help Riff’s North to a 15-9 win over Main Street Bar & Grille No. 2 at Green River Field.

Katherine Scarborough was 3-for-5 in the win for Riff’s.

Main Street’s Steve Billiel paced his squad with a pair of hits.

PV Women’s

Jenelle Wilkins clubbed a go-ahead grand slam in the top of the seventh inning, leading Conway past Goshen, 7-4, in a Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League contest Tuesday night at Tilton Field in Goshen.

Bobbi Morey was 1-for-2 with a two-run double for Conway, while Fawn Mougin and Ashley Tompkins had two hits apiece in the win.

• Elsewhere, the Buckland Brew Crew defeated Shelburne Falls, 17-2, in a five-inning contest.

Golf

Kells Memorial Tournament

Two teams tied for first place after shooting 64s as the Country Club of Greenfield’s morning men and 18-hole Ladies League played a mixed scramble in the Kells Memorial Tournament on Tuesday.

The team of Ernie Patnode, Phyllis Canon, Bob Lively, Carol Ruggeri and Maureen Barclay tied with the squad of Terry Dotson, Dave McDonald, Elise Rice and Anne Lyman.

Matt’s Men’s League

Ken Adams posted the low gross of 39, leading the field at Matt’s Men’s League at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls on Tuesday.

Jim Bassett posted a low net of 30. Rob Broussard was closest to the pin on No. 7 (1 foot, 2 inches), while Jeff Miller was closest on No. 9 (7-6).

Alfie Mitchell and John Passiglia had the most points this week with 6½.

Erving League

Frank Penny and John Hodgman combined to shoot 37, winning the low-gross contest at Tuesday’s Erving League held at the Northfield Golf Course.

Dennis Fournier and Peter McAndrews took the low net competition with a 28.

Closest to the pin contests were won by Rod Ebbighausen on No. 6 (14-6) and McAndrews on No. 7 (11-8).

Match medalists for the evening were Hodgman and Frank Ribeiro, each shooting 40.

Edge Hill Men’s

Dave Cote’s plus-four point quota led the way in the A Division at Tuesday’s Edge Hill Men’s League.

Mark Graves was closest to the pin on No. 8, landing his approach to 10-8. Cote’s 37 was the low gross, and Ronnie Parker’s 34 was the low net.

In the B Division, Jon Sonntag’s plus-11 was the top quota. Sonntag was closest to the pin (20-4), and shot 37 for low gross honors. Tom Miner and John Walsh had the low net at 33.
