Literacy Volunteers holding open house

The public is invited to the Literacy Volunteers of Orange/Athol (LVOA) Open House Celebration of Adult Literacy, Thursday, May 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athol Public Library.

The open house is to say a big thank you to the community for supporting LVOA’s activities, and for community members to learn more about its mission and volunteer opportunities, according to a press releas. Free refreshments will be served.

The organization is also announcing new openings in their free adult literacy 1:1 tutoring program in basic reading and writing, or for adult immigrants who want to improve their English speaking skills. Each student will be able to work toward his or her own individual goals with the support of their tutor. Those interested should contact Louise Doud, program coordinator, by phone at 978-249-5381, by email at lvoa01331@gmail.com, or by stopping in at the LVOA office on the first floor of the Athol Public Library, Tuesdays 3 to 7 p.m. or Thursdays 1 to 5 p.m. Appointments can be made for other times.
