Mother Goose on the Loose: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Kay Lyons leads a lap-sit story hour for children ages 3 and younger (with a grown-up). Lyons reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts. Each session is 45 minutes, with a half-hour of structured activity and about 15 minutes of visiting time.
Writers’ Lunch Workshop: This two-hour writing workshop runs on Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. Joannah Whitney leads the program, which includes writing exercises and discussion as well as an opportunity to share. Participants are encouraged to attend the open writing periods during the week as well. There is no charge for the workshop and registration is not required.

Jane Austen Book Club: 6 p.m. Join librarians Diane Holmes and Lisa Prolman for lively discussions of Jane Austen’s six published novels. Sessions will be held every other month on Thursday evenings. Starting with Austen’s first written, but last published, novel, “Northanger Abbey.”
Poet’s Seat Poetry Contest Celebration: 7 p.m. in Stoneleigh-Burnham School’s Capen Room. A celebratory evening where finalists read their poems and judges’ decisions are announced.
