Holly Myers struck out 10 batters in four innings, helping the Diamond Dusters to a convincing 14-2 win over Descavich Plumbing & Heating in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League Ponytail Division game Monday night at Murphy Park.
Taylor Greene doubled and walked twice in the win for the Dusters. Madison Liimatainen tripled and walked, while teammates Cordelia Guerin (double, single) and Anne Kolodziej (two singles) had two hits apiece.
Lilly Ross and Gianna Disciullo combined for eight strikeouts in the pitching circle for Descavich. The offense was paced by Sophia Rotkiewicz (single, walk), Addie Broady (single, walk) and Carly Blanchard (single).
• In Lil Nipper Division play, Leah Potter was a perfect 5-for-5 as Lundgren Honda defeated Harper’s Store, 21-1, on Monday night.
Sandra Johnson, Cayleigh Aldrich and Emmalyn Nash all finished 4-for-4 in the win for Lundgren.
Slugger Maddy Ryan led Harper’s with three hits, and Lexi Hawkinson also had a hit.
• Elsewhere, Freedom Credit Union edged Camelot Carpet Cleaners, 5-3. No further information was provided.
Newt Guilbault
The offense came early and often for Pipione’s Sport Shop, which continued to roll early in the Newt Guilbault Community Baseball League season thanks to a 15-2 win over St. Kazimierz Society Monday night in Turners Falls.
Jake Jurek earned the win on the mound and had four hits for Pipione’s. Nolan Stafford and Aiden Dodge had three singles each, while Logan Addison smacked a triple, double and single. Derek Wissmann also got in on the act, following up a big opening day with two doubles and a single. Matt Crossman tossed in a triple for good measure to help power the winners.
Young St. Kaz received doubles from Josiah Little and Zavyey Nieves, while the combination of Julian Kaiser and Jackson Cogswell threw the ball well on the mound.
There were plenty of standout performances throughout the roster for the Greenfield YMCA Tumbling Tigers over the weekend, as the club held its final home meet of the season.
Here’s a look at how the locals finished:
Level 1
Kayden Viencek was the runner-up on bars and floor in the 6-year old category, and took third on floor, beam and all-around.
In 7-year old action, Theresa Hamel won the floor (8.1) and was second on vault, bars and all-around to go with a third-place on beam. Serenity Rider won the beam with a score of 8.8.
Ohia Dellert won the bars (9.3) and tied for first in the all-around competition for 8 year olds and up. She tied for second on floor and tied for third on vault.
Level 2
In 7-8 year old competition, Virginia Krezmien won the beam (9.3) while earning runner-up showings on floor, vault and all-around. She was also third on bars.
Amelia Rider tied for first on the vault (8.8).
Xcel Bronze
Sandra Johnson took home a victory, as she was first in the vault with a score of 9.0. Johnson tied for second on bars and was third in the all-around.
Payton Tierney tied for first on bars with a 9.1.
Xcel Silver
Mila Frantz won floor (8.85), vault (9.3) and all-around (35.45), and tied with teammate Juliette Potee for third on bars.
Abby Shaw won bars (9.3) and was third in the all-around, while Hannah Towne nabbed third place on vault.
Level 3
In 8-9 year old competition, Seneca Smith won the floor (8.8), vault (9.4) and all-around (35.10), while placing second on beam and bars.
Addison Lively won bars (8.5), placed 3rd on vault and all-around, and Olivia Wolbach took third on floor.
Ava Garappolo won two events in the 10-year old division, capturing first on beam (9.1) and all-around (33.60). She placed second on floor and third on vault. Michaela Klempner-Siano won vault (9.1) and was third on floor, while Paloma Cruz won beam (9.3) and vault (9.3) while earning a runner-up finish on floor and taking third in all-around.
Xcel Gold
Aiden Wall won bars (9.3) and finished second on floor, beam and all-around to go with a third-place vault showing for the 11-12 year olds. Cassie Cloutier placed second on vault and third in all-around, while Daphne Baum tied for third on bars.
In 13-plus action, Aneesa Brewer was second on bars and vault to go with third-place finishes on floor, beam and all-around.
Xcel Platinum
Grayson Bowse won beam (9.3), bars (9.35) and all-around (36.20) for the Tigers.
Level 6
Lindsey Taylor won vault (8.425), bars (8.05) and all-around (33.025), and tied teammate Josie Cloutier for first on beam (8.55) and vault (8.0).
Level 7
Allyson Unaitis captured wins on beam (8.6), bars (8.9), vault (8.45) and all-around (34.15). Addie Broady won the floor (8.5).
Level 8
Zenani Himlin-Mayekiso took wins on floor (8.45), beam (8.35), bars (9.1) and all-around (34.10). Kendall Fox won the vault (8.75).
Great Falls MS wins
Jake Croteau did the job on the mound and the offense provided plenty of support behind him to give Great Falls Middle School an 18-5 win over Mahar Regional School in middle school baseball action Monday.
Dalton Henderson had three hits in the win for Great Falls, and Levin Prondecki was 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Cayden Lehtomaki was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.
Girls’ hoop coach sought

GHS baseball breakfast
The Greenfield High School baseball team will host a breakfast fundraiser on Sunday at the 99 Restaurant.
The fundraiser will run from the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., and cost is $9 per person. Tickets are available at the door or players on the team will also be selling them.
Mark K. Memorial
The team of Al Holmes, George Platek, Doug Field and Ken Trask took home top honors with a 59, as the Mark K. Memorial Mixed Golf League kicked off a new season Monday at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Gill.
DJ Towne, Bob Walker, Al Blanchard Jr. and Dave Wiles were the runners-up with a total of 64.
There are still available membership openings for the league, which plays every Monday night.
CCG Monday Ladies
Liz Dolby’s low gross of 44 set the table for the A Division, while Tilly Clark posted a low net of 37 at the Country Club of Greenfield’s Monday Ladies League.
Dawn Bete shot 52 to earn low gross honors in the B Division. Jenna Luippold’s 37 was the low net score in the B Division.
The C Division was won with a low gross of 50 by Nancy Conant. Bobbie Low totaled 40 to take the low net score.
Greenfield Rec League
Registration is open for the Greenfield Recreation Tennis League, with play set to begin the week of May 20.
The league is open to players 16 years old to adult. There will be one match per week on the clay courts in Greenfield. The format is singles, best-of-three sets, and players set up their own time to play.

FC Hoop Clinic
The 21st annual Franklin County Hoop Clinic sponsored by DRIVE Hoops will take place from July 16 through 20 at Greenfield High School.
The clinic will run daily from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 6 through 14. Cost is $150 per participant and includes breakfast and lunch.
The clinic, which will be limited to the first 60 participants, will be run by Hopkins Academy boys’ varsity basketball coach Angelo Thomas and Greenfield High School girls’ varsity basketball coach John Hickey.
