Ally Watrous clubbed three home runs over the fence as the Northfield Mount Hermon School softball team rolled to a 19-1 victory over Winchendon School in a prep contest played Wednesday in Gill.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule. The Hoggers travel to play at Miss Porter’s School on Saturday.

• Elsewhere, Jacob Schultz recorded 14 saves in net but NMH fell to Phillips Andover Academy, 16-4, in a boys’ lacrosse game.

Jay Mahoney, Pierce Clarke, Isaac Pope and Jack Theriault all tallied for the Hoggers.

• In other NMH action, the varsity boys’ volleyball team swept Wilbraham Monson Academy, 25-7, 25-22, 25-16, to even its record at 1-1. The boys’ tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Wilbraham Monson.

AMS beats ‘Ganset

Kristinna Sigurdsson tossed a complete game, striking out 12 and not issuing a walk to lift the Athol Middle School softball team to a 17-2 win over Narragansett Wednesday afternoon.

Emma Baciglupo was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and four stolen bases for Athol. The team finished with 12 stolen bases in the victory.

Deerfield scores

It was a winning Wednesday for the Deerfield Academy athletic department.

The Big Green dominated action, winning all but one of their varsity contests on the day.

The tennis teams swept action, with the boys’ team picking up a 6-1 win over Kingswood-Oxford and the girls edging Westminster School, 6-3.

The softball team snuck past Worcester Academy, 10-9, and the girls’ water polo team defeated Loomis Chaffee School, 13-8. The girls’ lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season, 15-7, against Andover Academy, and the golf team took care of business in a sweep of NMH and Avon.

The lone loss came in the baseball game, where DA lost to Taft School, 11-7.

FC Babe Ruth signups

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League has two more registration sessions scheduled at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield this week.

League officials will be at Abercrombie Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and again on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The league does not interfere with school baseball.

Post 81 tryouts near

Greenfield Post 81, which sponsors a senior and junior team, will be conducting registration and tryouts at Veterans Memorial Field at 2 p.m. on the following dates: April 29, May 5, May 6 and May 12. Senior team members must be 19 and under, while juniors must be 17 and under, by Dec. 31, 2018.

Players from all Franklin County schools are eligible to try out. Players are encouraged to make as many tryouts as possible. Please bring your glove, cleats and birth certificates. Those players from a previous Post 81 roster must attend tryouts to be eligible for the 2018 team.
