Ruth Charney’s My Turn about the fierce arguments surrounding gun control is a breath of fresh air. Not because she makes a winning argument for one side or the other, but because her essay is grounded in life, not politics. Her words speak to both “sides” of the gun control controversy in human terms that everyone can embrace.

Wouldn’t it be a heart-warming bridge over the troubled waters of the politically poisonous gun control controversy if even a few people with differing beliefs, and concerns about this issue, could come together in respect for each other, to talk and listen to each other? As Ruth’s family has done?

Any takers out there?
