Mother Nature decided to wait a day to spring an April Fools’ Day surprise on the region with some snow this morning.

The weather seemed to catch some motorists off-guard as there were numerous reports of vehicles slipping and sliding, resulting in some minor accidents.

Significant snowfall amounts of more than 3 inches were expected to fall in southern New England as well as the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coast, with the possibility of some places getting 6 inches. It was anticipated that much of Franklin County would only get a couple of inches at best.

The snow and clouds were expected to clear out during the afternoon, with temperatures reaching well into the 40s.
