GREENFIELD — The Baystate Home Infusion & Respiratory Services center at Cherry Rum Plaza will be closing at the end of the month to hand its operations to CVS. It will be a part of the organization’s end to providing home infusion and respiratory services in general.

“After undertaking a strategic review of BHIRS we determined that another organization, with more resources and the ability to invest in the infrastructure of these services would be better positioned to continue and enhance our legacy of service for our patients,” Baystate Health spokeswoman Molly MacMunn said in a statement.

The center, which provides services for patients recently released from the hospital or dealing with a newly diagnosed condition, told its clients about the closing in the beginning of February, saying the business will likely end March 30.

“We are confident that (CVS) will continue to deliver a high level of service and provide the patients with excellent care,” MacMunn said in her statement.

Baystate Health said the strategic review showed, “durable medical equipment and home delivery of respiratory services, and related equipment and supplies, are not a core business of Baystate Health. The changing healthcare environment guided our decision making as we remain focused on being stewards of our resources in support of patient care throughout the communities we serve.”

Baystate said patients will have an opportunity to make their own choices for home infusion and respiratory services.

“Taking care of our patients is our first priority, and we are committed to delivering the same level of service throughout the transition,” MacMunn said in her statement. “Every effort is being made to ensure a seamless transition for our patients.”

“We recognized that the services and opportunities to deliver home infusion and respiratory services to our patient population could be done in more innovative and efficient ways by companies whose core business focus is in the area of durable medical equipment and home delivery of respiratory services and related equipment and supplies,” MacMunn said.
