DEERFIELD — What turned out to be a false report from a student prompted local police to put Deerfield Elementary School on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.
“At 2 p.m., Deerfield Elementary staff received a report from a student that an unknown male adult was in a bathroom. The school went into shelter in place while the report was investigated by school staff with the assistance of Deerfield Police,” a statement from the department said.
While officers were checking the building, the student who made the report said it was made up. After the building was cleared by local and state police, the school reverted to a normal school day.
