ERVING — A motion to broaden marijuana zoning bylaws to cover recreational use is one of 17 articles on a special town meeting warrant set for Monday, March 26.
The meeting, at the Erving Senior & Community Center, is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
The marijuana zoning bylaw, if approved, would replace the medical marijuana moratorium that expired in 2014 and allow for the retail sale of marijuana in Erving’s Central Village and French King Commercial Districts by special permit.
This proposed bylaw also allows marijuana cultivation, testing, and processing in the Central Village, French King Commercial Districts and Rural Residential Districts through special permit.
Other articles at the meeting include:
An article asking to purchase a new dump truck for $110,000, replacing a 2010 F550 dump truck that has had two recent repairs costing $7,000. This truck is scheduled to be replaced in Fiscal Year 2019, and according to the town warrant, it is custom built and requires a 10- to 12-month lead time.
An article to purchase two laptops for the library for $1,800.
An article to approve a $4,200 increase to the Fiscal Year 2018 Culture and Recreation budget.
An article to use $203,390.49 from Free Cash to pay “final charges” related to Phase 1 of the Riverfront Park Construction project.
An article to put up more traffic signs, such as stop signs, “for the safety and convenience” of people traveling on public roads in Erving.
