Violinists, violists, cellists and double-bassists from across New England are invited to join UMass faculty and current string students for a full day of fun and instructional music-making this weekend.
The University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Music and Dance will hold their 12th annual String Day on Sunday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the UMass Music wing and Fine Arts Center.
Participating music and dance faculty members include violist and event organizer Kathryn Lockwood, violinist Elizabeth Chang, cellist Edward Arron, double-bassist Salvatore Macchia, and new UMass Amherst Symphony director Morihiko Nakahara.
Highlights of the day-long event include performances by current UMass students, master classes and clinics with UMass faculty, rehearsals and an end-of-the-day performance by String Day participants.
