The Fred W. Wells Trust scholarships and grants are now available for graduating high school seniors and full-time college students, who live in Ashfield, Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Conway, Deerfield, Gill, Greenfield, Hawley, Heath, Leyden, Monroe, Montague, Northfield, Rowe and Shelburne.
The scholarships, which go up to $1,000, are eligible for those who have lived in one of those 16 Franklin County towns for the last two years.
They are given out on the basis of scholarship, need, extracurricular activities and recommendations from counselors and teachers, according to a release from the Trust.
Students can receive up to $4,000 over the course of their academic career.
Applications can be found at high school guidance offices and town administrative offices in those 16 towns.
The application is due no later than March 20.
The trust, founded by longtime Franklin County residents Fred Wells and Ethel Dow Wells, has been handing out scholarships to Franklin County students for the last 75 years.
