BERNARDSTON — Organizers of the annual Scarecrow in the Park fall festival are seeking creative people to participate in the scarecrow contest.
According to a press release from the Bernardston Kiwanis Club, which organizes Scarecrow in the Park, the two-day event will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22 this year. Scarecrows must be set up in Cushman Park by noon on Friday, Oct. 20, as judging will take place soon after.
The five scarecrow categories are scariest, funniest, prettiest, most interesting use of materials, and a rotating category, which is history this year, the release states. All of these categories come with a $100 prize for the winner. In addition, Bear Country will give a $200 Big Y gift card to the maker of the best “Bearcrow.”
Participants of any age can enter one scarecrow in as many categories as they would like, at the cost of $5 per category, according to the release. Money raised from Scarecrow in the Park benefits the Bernardston Kiwanis Club’s scholarship fund.
