BERNARDSTON — Cushman Library is hosting a book discussion series starting Monday, Oct. 2, in celebration of Henry David Thoreau’s 200th birthday.
Each discussion will focus on a different aspect of Thoreau’s classic work “Walden,” and will begin at 7 p.m.
Discussions include:
“Walden Wisdom: Then and Now,” led by Cushman Library Trustee and retired Keene State College professor Anne-Marie Mallon on Monday, Oct. 2.
“The Road to Walden” led by local literary presenter and researcher Barry Deitz on Monday, Oct. 23.
An analysis of the book through the perspective of organic gardener Cathryn Thomas, also a Cushman Library Trustee and owner of Cat’s Croft, on Monday, Nov. 20.
And “The Life and Times of Thoreau” presented by Deitz on Monday, Dec. 11.
Those interested in attending can participate in one or all discussions. Thanks to a donation of 10 books from The Walden Woods Project at the Thoreau Institute in Lincoln, Cushman Library has several copies of “Walden” to lend.
