Mark Waskiewicz and Jason Goodhind shot a low-gross 70 to win the AFC Flight during the Pigskin Classic at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston on Thursday.

Noah Harrison and JD Gexler won low net with a 61.

Jon Shea and Phil Phillips won low gross in the NFC Flight with a 75, while Dan Carmody and Jake Brennan won low net with a 63.

Duncan Elliott was closest to the pin on No. 3 at 10 feet, 3 inches. Harrison was closest on No. 15 at 5 feet.

Ashfield Ladies

Bev Williams and Diane O’Connell shot a 97 to win low gross in the Blind Partner Tournament during the Ashfield Community Golf Course Thursday Ladies League.

Barb Ladd and Connie Szelewiki won low net with a 74. Mary Stokarski had the fewest putts with 15.

High school

TF field hockey drive

The Turners Falls High School field hockey team will hold a bottle and can drive Saturday.

People can drop off cans and bottles at the high school from 9 until 11 a.m. or at Ruggeri’s Beverage and Redemption Center in Greenfield from 9 a.m. until noon.

Anyone in the school district can also email coach Becky Dame at bdame4@gmail.com to schedule a home pickup on Saturday morning.

Tennis

Doubles Tourney

Registrations are available for the Greenfield Tennis League Doubles Tournament.

The tournament is open to everyone. Players sign up individually. Partners are drawn on the first evening of the tournament.

The tournament runs from Sept. 18 through 20 at the Beacon Courts in Greenfield at 5:30 p.m. Male and female players welcome, ages high school through adult. Cost is $5 and a can of unopened tennis balls. There will be a loser’s bracket for teams that lose in the first round. Trophies awarded to teams that come in first and second. Deadline to register is Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

Field hockey

Union 38 youth program

Union 38 will hold an introductory program for girls in grades 3-6 this fall. Players from the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway are eligible. The focus will be on skill development with game scenarios later in the season. Field hockey sticks, shin guards and balls (with a deposit) will be provided to the first 35 girls who register. Players are asked to wear a mouth guard and bring a water bottle.

Practices will run Sundays from Sept. 17 through Oct. 15 from 4-5 p.m. at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield. Registration is $20 with a $50 equipment deposit (separate checks). Checks will be returned at the last session when all equipment is returned.
